Artist Bio

Bri’Anna J. Richards, also known as Breezy, is a free spirited creative based in Savannah, Georgia. She was born and raised in the mountains of West Virginia where at a young age she discovered her love for the arts. This love was supported and encouraged by the collective of creative strong women within her family. Knowing that there was no other life path that she wanted to take, she refined her skills at West Virginia’s first historically black college and university, West Virginia State University; where she received her BA in Arts and minor in Art History.

After relocating to Savannah in 2018 with her family she continued to cultivate her craft in her in-home studio. She works with a variety of mediums, believing that every piece needs the right touch to tell its true story, but overall her favorite is textile. Where others see fabric scraps and trash she sees magic waiting to be cultivated. The art she creates is heavily influenced by nature and the complexities of being a woman in today’s world. Just like the cycles in the natural world of growth, struggle, and resilience; it endures like the women of today’s society.

Artist Statement

Every woman walks her own path. These paths may be straight and true, while others can be full of twists, turns, and dead ends. Just like these different paths my work uses different media from graphite to textile to explore the female circumstance. From our beauty, spirituality, and triumphs to our suppression, injustices, and equalities.
